Charlene Ketchum w/ Larry Penton Season 4 Episode 33

With the cost of health care in America at an all-time high, the fear of going into debt because of medical bills is all too real.

In today's episode we speak with Larry Penton, a veteran paramedic and firefighter about what may constitute a medical emergency, when to call 911 vs when to call your doctor, and how to be prepared to handle minor medical needs at home.

Larry also shares insights related to:

  • Keeping your pets safe during the holidays.
  • Resources for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.
  • Availability of free smoke detectors.
  • Importance of CPR and Stop the Bleed Training.
  • Key items to include in your individual first aid kit.
  • Considerations to help determine when to go to the emergency department, urgent care, or call your physician.
  • Signs you may need to call 911 which include shortness of breath, chest pain, altered mental status, pain or weakness on one side of the body, unconscious (breathing) or unresponsive (no pulse, not breathing), uncontrolled bleeding.
